Manga Scanlators under Attack!!!!!
« on: August 06, 2010, 10:15:48 am »

For you otaku's out there, I know that NOW can be a very sad time for you.

Many top notch Manga Hosting websites are being shut down, including OneManga.com.

Basically, the scanlators, and manga hosters, used to be able to post up FREE scans of manga chapters, as soon as they were leaked/published. The websites always encouraged the members to buy the actual publkished manga to support the authors, illustrators and publishing companies. Unfortunately, the publishers recently decided that they would have no more of it.

Quote from OneManga:

"The day has finally come! It has been a great run and we thank you all for your kind words and support. We couldn't answer all the email we got (because we got a ton!), but know that all of your messages were read and heartfelt. Some were especially touching, and we can be proud of the fact that OM made a difference in some people's lives. Better than 'peanut butter and jelly' indeed!!
...

Why not partner with publishers and change OM to a paid subscription model?

- It certainly makes sense, and we did consider it. But we don't have the resources nor the contacts to reach out to the publishers directly. At least not the people who make these kinds of decisions, most of whom are in Japan. If you are a publisher reading this and are interested in working with OM, feel free to contact us"

So unfortunately, the publishers are being greedy again. I know I will keep buying Manga, but still... I am very disapoint. Please support the scanlators and manga viewing websites as much as you can.

Now also be aware that there are many websites that still show manga online. But all the MAJOR websites (Like OneManga) are/ will be taking down the material. Also note that YouTube will probably start removing videos of the manga due to copyright claims.
