Halo: Reach Review
« on: September 19, 2010, 04:45:55 pm »

Ah, Halo. When I hear that word I don't think angels. No, I think about the award winning franchise by Bungie Studios. I think of being an awesome Spartan, fighting off the Covenant and eliminating the flood. I've been a fan since Halo: Combat Evolved, and have bought and owned every game since then. Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars, ODST, and now I own Reach.

I loved Halo, it was the first Xbox game I ever played (before then I just played nintendo games). I played it for hours on end. Then in 2004, I got Halo 2. It blew my mind. I went insane and beat it on Legendary in one weekend. However, I still played it for years online. In fact, I played it until September 25, 2007. My birthday, and the release date for Halo 3. ODST was okay, boring, too short storyline, but hey, it introduced firefight. It also gave me sweet maps haha. Halo Wars was insane, but one: it's an RTS, and this is focused on FPS's right now, and two: It wasn't made by Bungie.

When I played the Reach Beta I was STUNNED. Graphics; Amazing. Game Play; Phenomenal. So when I played the actual game, I almost freaked. It was the best Halo game I had ever played. I'll tell you about it more in depth in the next few paragraphs.

I beat the Campaign on Legendary, and let me tell you, for everyone knowing what will happen, it was still an awesome ending, possibly the best ending to any video game ever. Legendary was really insanely hard, but it just challenged you and made you want it more as you play. They worked armor abilities in the Campaign nicely as well.

I think the introduction of the armor abilities is awesome. Jet packs take you places once thought unREACHable. Active Camouflage hides you until that one second when you need to assassinate someone. Armor Lock prevents you from dying for a short period of time, while your opponents get wasted by your team.  Hologram makes a double of you that walks in a straight line. As they try to kill it, you can easily kill them. Drop Shield, which functions like a Bubble Shield from Halo 3. All these Abilities are just great additions to the game in my opinion, but it's up to the person.

The achievements in this game seem too easy. I'm at 965/1000 GS, and 47/49 Achievements, after five days. However, they are still wickedly fun to get. I loved playing through everything, trying to figure out how to get those different achievements.

The multiplayer is incredible. Nothing like it. It feels like Halo, but with a new swagger. New weapons, new vehicles, new maps, and the addition of armor abilities. I'm a Warrant Officer Grade 1, and I've been working non-stop to level. The highest is Colonel. That means I'm 14 ranks away, not even 1/4 of the way there Credit-wise. This multiplayer will hopefully last you years, as it will for me.

Forge was SWEET. Forge World is 5+ maps in one, and the editing capabilities are out of this world. It is far better than Halo 3's forge, and I hope I see some pretty awesome maps coming out here pretty soon.

Well, Bungie's Halo franchise did go out with a bang. Maybe another company will come pick up the Halo Series, but it will never be as awesome as Bungie's run through Halo. I would definitely recommend this game for anyone who has a 360 and loves to have fun. Anyway, I'm  Rapidash0660, I'll see you all on matchmaking!
