To make a RP: All RP's must start with of course, the basic rules, just as a reminder, which are: no flaming, no god modding(no god like power or controlling other characters), never have a OOC longer than your RP post, and the optional minimum paragraph per post. Second, you need the storyline, be sure to be detailed with this, but don't make it too long or people will be too lazy to read it. After that you post your character sheet (optional, but suggested for certain RP's and newbs) in which you make your character. A character sheet would look something like this:
Name:
Nickname:
Appearance/Apparel:
Weapons:
Skills:
History:
After that, post any rules you have that relate to that particular RP, like if you can only have a certain amount of people being that one race. As the creator of that RP, you are responsible for regulating it, such as denying people access to that RP for FAIR reasons, or reporting any discrepancies to the moderator.
Posting in an RP: if you need to say something in real life, something your character isn't saying, then you do OOC:[message]. Just remember not to abuse this. When posting for your character, we have a system that is used in the beginners RP:
Bold is for your characters speech
Italics are your characters thoughts, and descriptions of your characters actions, other peoples actions, and the environment around you
Color is for the speech of others, use a different color for each person
!IMPORTANT! When planning a battle scene, to avoid god modding and an inevitable argument, pm the person you are going to battle with and plan out what will happen, and agree on one or the other to post the agreed battle
Romance : In some RP's, people will have their characters fall in love. If you decide to do this, be mature about it, don't be some nerd who cant get a date in real life and take this as a hint that the actual person likes you or something. If you do "it", hint at everybody that it happened, but don't get into it unless you want to be banned.
More on God Modding : To God Mod is to make decisions for other peoples characters or to make your character perfect or too powerful. Make sure that like any and every human, your character has his/her character flaws, and combat flaws, no one is perfect. Second, to God Mod is to make choices for other peoples characters, this destroys the entire point of the RP, so don't do it. Some people may allow you to god mod (also refer to "!important!" above) or let it slip, but you have to be careful.
All of this is essential to being a good RP'er, so don't forget it. I look forward to RP'ing with you all, and don't forget grammar!
If an RP should "die"
If an RP should "die" meaning be inactive for a lengthy period of time without any posts, the original creator has the option of formally ending their particular thread. It can be brief, or the ending can be god-modded by the owner. The choice is theirs, but I would rather see all RP's play out.
The elusive DM:
When writing an RP, one can decide if s/he wishes to not participate and just offer narration. The narrator is called the DM and his or her job is to guide the story to where s/he wants to see it go.
