PokeBusters
« on: August 05, 2010, 06:26:40 pm »

I'm here to "bust" any Pokemon Myths you may have heard. This includes things like the "Strength Truck" from R/B/Y. Anything like that will be accepted, and I will to my very best to prove or disprove any myths at all.

I need ONE partner for this, so please apply in a PM or a Post.

Okay, I have a multitude of games I can bust myths on.
The games are:
Pokemon Red
Pokemon Blue
Pokemon Green
Pokemon Yellow
Pokemon Silver
Pokemon Crystal
Pokemon Emerald
Pokemon Diamond
Pokemon Pearl
Pokemon Platinum
Pokemon Heart Gold
^About these games, I am at varying points in each game, like I just restarted Diamond, so any Diamond rumors that have to do with any place that's further than where I am will wait until I'm that far in the game.

Let me note: THIS IS NOT A QUESTION THREAD
Do not ask questions here, just post any rumors or Myths you may have heard.

UNSOLVED MYTHS
R/B/Y/Gr
"0 ERROR glitch"

G/S/C
No Myths

R/S/E
"bad egg glitch"

FR/LG
No Myths

D/P/Pt/HG/SS
No Myths

FINISHED MYTHS:

R/B/Y/Gr
Strength on truck near S.S. Anne: I Surfed to the truck and used strength on all sides of the truck. Nothing happened.
Myth: BUSTED

Mew Trick**: Walked down to meet a trainer while pressing start, flew to cerulean city. Walked up toward the bridge and a battle with a level 7 Mew began.
Myth: CONFIRMED

Surfing Magikarp: Leveled a Magikarp to level 100, it still couldn't learn Surf.
Myth: BUSTED

Pokeball trick (A+B): Threw 10 Pokeballs at 10 Tentacools with the A+B trick, caught 7/10. Threw 10 Pok?balls at 10 Tentacools without the A+B trick, caught 3/10.
Myth: PLAUSIBLE

MISSINGNO.: Went to Viridian City and walked north and talked to the Old Man who's just had his coffee. I watched him catch a pokemon. Flew to Cinnabar Island. Surfed along the east coast. Encountered a 'MISSINGNO'. After the battle I had infinite Master Balls, because it was in my 6th item slot before the battle
Myth: CONFIRMED

'M: While surfing for MISSINGNO. I found a Pokemon named 'M, at first it was level 0, and I killed it. It gave 0 exp. Then the second time it was level 80, I killed it, and it gave a LOT of exp.
Myth: CONFIRMED

G/S/C
Pokeball trick (A+B): Threw 10 Pokeballs at 10 Tentacools with the A+B trick, caught 10/10. Threw 10 Pok?balls at 10 Tentacools without the A+B trick, caught 6/10.
Myth: PLAUSIBLE

R/S/E
Pokeball trick (A+B): Threw 10 Pokeballs at 10 Tentacools with the A+B trick, caught 9/10. Threw 10 Pok?balls at 10 Tentacools without the A+B trick, caught 7/10.
Myth: PLAUSIBLE

FR/LG
Strength on truck near S.S. Anne: I Surfed to the truck and used strength on all sides of the truck. Nothing happened. South (down) of the truck, you will find a lava cookie.
Myth: BUSTED

Mew trick: I walked down to the trainer and it didn't let me pause in the process, so you can't finish the glitch.
Myth: BUSTED

Pokeball trick (A+B): Threw 10 Pokeballs at 10 Tentacools with the A+B trick, caught 8/10. Threw 10 Pok?balls at 10 Tentacools without the A+B trick, caught 5/10.
Myth: PLAUSIBLE

D/P/Pt/HG/SS
Surf Glitch (D/P):Went to the elite four, looked at the entrance, and surfed. Nothing happened. I tried various other places and nothing seemed to work whatsoever. Let me note that this DOES work in the Japanese version of the games though.
Myth: BUSTED

Acid Rain (Pt/HG/SS):Started trick room, used pursuit on a Pok?mon, it fainted. All weather was then simultaneously activated, hurting all Pok?mon on the field, four times. Solarbeam required no charge turn, and Blizzard/Thunder seemed 100% accurate.
Myth: CONFIRMED

Everstone Nature Trick on Males!? (HG/SS):I gave an Everstone to a Jolly Male Charmander with a Female adamant Charmander holding a Power Weightand 6/10 Eggs came out Jolly.
Myth: CONFIRMED

Electivire + Raichu = Raikou/Zapdos!?: Attempted to breed an Electivire and a Raichu, holding a magnet. Tried male and female... to no surprise, no egg came out.
Myth: BUSTED

Mothim and Eterna Forest: Went in every possible entrance to Eterna with Mothim in the front party slot, nothing happened.
Myth:BUSTED

Finished Myths Key:
BUSTED: Myth is false, doesn't work at all.
-
CONFIRMED: Myth is true, proven to work.
-
PLAUSIBLE: Myth is undecided, might work, might not.
-

**I thought I'd let you in on something about the Mew Glitch.  Originally, the creator of Mew (forgot his name...) had put Mew in, but he didn't want anyone else to know, so he inserted the "Mew Glitch" without the design team's knowledge until he showed it to them.  I know he was one of the main game designers (I'm pretty sure, at least) which is also why his favorite pokemon Mew is the only pokemon that is able to learn all moves from TMs.
-Thanks to Fenrir-

I don't know if I can really help you much in the myth busting department Rap, sorry. May I suggest that we link the two pok?busters threads together though? Like link to this one from GR and we link to GR from this one?

bah I'll do it:
http://www.gamesradar.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=1659238&#1659238
That one has Rap's helpers, and where he got the info for the Solved, Plausible, and Busted myths.

Rapidash0660's beautiful creation is above these words right now. You should all go ask for a sig from him in the Art Board because he needs something to do :P

Self submitted Myth:
Is it true that the Everstone/Nature Trick works on Males in HG/SS?
